Poetry Comparison.

In my poetry comparison I chose to compare the following two poems, 'Annabel Lee' by Edgar Allan Poe and 'The Abnormal is Not Courage' by Jack Gilbert. In Annabel Lee the author laments over the loss of his one true love. He describes how his love for Annabel Lee never goes away even after her death. What he feels for her is truly lasting and sincere. And in 'The Abnormal is not Courage' Gilbert describes how courage is the kind of thing you do after a long time without ceasing for example, in love you love without ceasing and that in itself is courage. He uses the example of Penelope in 'The Odyssey' how her love for her husband was courageous enough to stand the test of time. The similarity between the two is that love that the authors are describing both are about as courageous as the other. Each poem tells about how courage is having the strength to stand forever.
